Field Day 2010

Field Day 2010

This years Field Day left the rain as a distant memory as the sun held out for a glorious event with a magnificent line-up.  Electronic mayhem saw Mount Kimbie fill out the Bloggers Delight tent with a rush of experimental dubstep and head boppers.  Gilles Peterson introduced Chicago hip hop/jazz collective the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, tailor made for sunset with chilled vibes reaching across the park .  Caribou were uplifting, positive and ballsy and unsurprisingly drew a considerable crowd, all eager to catch the psychedelic pop-electronica.  The highly anticipated Gold Panda proved a popular draw and Matthew Herbert entertained the crowd, mixing discordant sounds whilst mounting a silver step ladder and finishing his set inside a tent.  The juddering techno of Moderat echoed an awe-inspiring headline set that leaves Field Day 2010 as a memorable one.  Its just finding that there is not enough time to fit it all in, especially having to wait for so long for a beer.  Field Day is an evolution of improvement as we pursue the best new music, sound and visual entertainment and this years proved that all the hard work does pay off.

TIM AND SAM’S TIM AND THE SAM BAND WITH TIM AND SAM - Wed 8th September

We are thrilled to be hosting the Bestival warm up show for Tim and Sam’s Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam. brought to you by Monkey Suit.

The group with possibly the longest name in musical history are based in North Wales. The band use beautiful views of rolling countryside as their muse. Together, they have the gift of creating daydream inducing, intertwining arrangements, that will pick you up and take you to a simpler place. Where the stresses of day-to-day life disappear in a musical landscape of beauty and harmony. Their live set builds to a climax with three members of the band taking to the drums and building a firework like crescendo. Away from the live arena, the band’s music has been championed by many radio tastemakers including Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank, John Kennedy, Bethan Eflyn and Tom Robinson (to name a few).

GOLD PANDA - A unique blend of samples mixed with warm, euphoric beats.

STANDARD PLANETS - Standard Planets create epic symphonies that effortlessly combine elements of monolithic drone, caustic machine funk, ‘67 psych and carpathian hillbilly.

HOODLUMS - Big quiffs and twangy guitars. They also cause an absolute riot when they play live.

THE EYES IN THE HEAT - A voice, a guitar and a drum machine. That’s all TEITH need to create an all encompassing, extremely sultry sound.

Thursday 29th July - Becks Vier Music Inspires Art Presents…

Gold Panda Live Set

Gold Panda exemplifies all that is great about new music at the minute. Tracks of devastating beauty are constructed almost entirely from found samples using “old records, VHS’s brought in charity shops and the odd 90’s computer game samples. Live, he adopts the common posture of the knob twiddling laptop gazer with his eyes scanning the array of esoteric machines and boxes that lay before him.  He splices beats and deconstructs sounds to their core and where any semblance of a regular pattern is omitted in a track, it’s replaced by ambient noise. A unique blend of samples and warm, euphoric beats.
